The Mi-28N combat helicopter of a new generation is intended for:

  • search and destruction of tanks, enemy's manpower;
  • destruction of protected objects and surface targets (trenches, defence constructions, etc.);
  • installation of mine fields;
  • search and destruction of boats and other small float means;
  • fighting with high-speed and low flying enemy's AC;
  • destruction of low-speed air targets day and night in simple and adverse weather conditions.

The helicopter is fitted with an airborne radio electronic equipment complex, which provides:

Armament:

Guided rocket armament:
  • "Ataka" missiles up to 16 pcs
  • "Igla" missiles of "air-to-air" class with heat-seeking heads up to 8 pcs
Unguided rocket armament:

Unguided jet projectiles and rockets:

  • S-8 type, caliber 80 mm, up to 80 pcs;
  • S-13 type, caliber 122 mm, up to 20 pcs;
  • S-24 type, caliber 240 mm, up to 2 pcs.
Built-in small-arms/gun armament:
  • NPPU-28N flexible gun unit with gun caliber 30 mm (250 projectiles).
Suspended small-arms/gun armament:
  • suspended UPK-23-250 container with GSh-23L gun caliber 23 mm (250 cartridges) (2 containers per helicopter).
Bomb-mine armament:
  • KMGU-2 (2-4 pcs) container.
